Mr. Shamim Ahmad Afghani, a wothy son of worthy father, is not only an artisan but is a handicraft designer by inheritance. The art of designing and manufacture is infused in his blood from his forefather for decorative pottery ware varying from earthenware to stoneware.
The major contribution for the success and fame of Shamim Ahmad Afghani goes to his father Mr.Abdur Raheem Maulana Afghani, Who with the know of art and handicraft, had estblished a modern self contained pottery unit with all facilities at Khurja, Distt. Bulandshahr, U.P. The activity of designing and producing of Flower pots, Bonsai Pots, Decorative Itemsis and all Hotelware Items not only a business but it is an artisan's work adopted as the life style. Mr Shamim Ahmad Afghani, with the facilities of modern unit established by his father and under his able guidance, demonstrated and participated in the art of pottery in sevral international exhibition since 1980.
The art of pottery was highly appreciated by the Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India. A best Craftsman and handicraft Award of Uttar Pradesh was awaded to Mr. Shamim Ahmad By the Chief Minister of the Province for the year 2001-02.
The art of pottery was also highly appreciated by Mr. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. U.P State Award in Handicraft was awaded to Mr. Imran Afghani by the Chief Minister of the Province for the year 2016-17.
The great grand father of Mr.Shamim Ahmad Afghani, Mr Sheikh Karimullah Afghani ,whose forefathers were migrants from Afghanistan and adopted pottery profession,some time in 1840 was a master craftsman. The British Regime of India, commissioned him to demonstrate his skills on a potter's wheel at the Coronation Exhibition in England in the year 1911 .He thrilled and impressed the visitors to the Exhibition by his performance of the art of pottery and the skillful use of the potter's wheel.
These Skills have been inherited ,through the past generations by Imran Afghani and Nadeem Afghani present entrepreneur. This rich Tradition enriched as it is by the know-how and skills of the past is becoming more enriched by the new and innovative techniques of the present.
